The Mustard Seed Garden Center offers classes and hands-on workshops for both children and adults throughout the year. Designed to provide “something for everyone,” group workshop sessions cover a variety of horticulture topics that provide useful and practical information no matter what your level of gardening experience. Growing Herbs In MN

Grow, Preserve, and Use Easy to Grow Herbs for MN Gardens. 

Learn which herbs are fun and easy to grow in your MN garden. Presentation includes: garden location, site preparation, light requirement, culture & care, harvesting, using, and methods for preserving. Recipes for using herbs in food will be included. Additionally, we will discuss various ways to use herbs from your garden.  

Instructors; Shirley Mah Kooyman is a botanist with a specialty in plant taxonomy (plant names and identification) and an award-winning teacher. She is a long-time member of the MN Herb Society. Shirley worked at the MN Landscape Arboretum for 25 years and was the Adult Education Manager there for 2 decades. She has lectured on numerous botanical and horticultural topics to many different groups. 

Bonnie Hector is a past President of the MN Herb Society and has been an avid herb gardener for the past 16 years.  She enjoys finding unique ways to enjoy herbs grown in her garden.
