Core Responsibilities
Customer Service
Greet customers warmly and provide knowledgeable, friendly assistance.
Answer questions about plants, gifts, and services to the best of your ability and seek help when beyond your scope.
Assist customers in locating merchandise and aid in making purchasing decisions.
Inform customers of sales, promotions, and store events.
Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
Plant Care & Maintenance
Water, fertilize, prune, and maintain plant health.
Monitor plants for pests, disease, or other issues
Restock & rotate outdoor displays and maintain plant presentation.
Inventory & Merchandising
Unload plant deliveries.
Price, stock, and label merchandise accurately.
Maintain organized and clean greenhouse, benching and outdoor display areas.
Track inventory and ensure accurate product labeling.
Transactions
Operate point-of-sale (POS) system.
Process cash, credit card, and other payment methods accurately.
Follow company policies regarding returns, exchanges, and loss prevention.
Bag and load customer purchases securely.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Ability to lift and carry 40–50 pounds occasionally.
Stand, bend, and move for extended periods.
Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and humidity.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Top Responsibilities by Department
Greenhouse / Seasonal Lot Staff Duties
Top duties are Customer Service, Plant Care & Maintenance, and Inventory & Merchandising
Follow commercial greenhouse standards for plant care, customer interactions, and workplace safety.
Will be exposed to dirt, soil, water, plant material and all weather conditions & temps.
Use two-way radio to communicate with team members.
Identify unusual plant issues and share any concerns.
Move hoses and carts of plant material.
Complete department daily task lists and communicate about progress.
Assist other departments upon request (cashier support, watering, deliveries).
Assist with loading customer vehicles. Ex: trees, bagged goods, sod.
Gift Shop / Garden Center Cashier Duties
Top duties are Customer Service and Transactions
Answer phones & use two-way radio to communicate with team members
Maintain a clean and organized checkout area.
Support the Gift Shop Merchandiser in display upkeep and cleanliness.
Provide detailed knowledge of gift items and home décor.
Will be exposed to dirt, soil, water, plant material and all weather conditions & temps.
Load customer vehicles with other purchases. Ex: trees, bagged goods, sod.
Tree & Shrub Department Duties
Top duties are Customer Service and Plant Care & Maintenance, and Inventory & Merchandising
Work primarily outdoors in all weather conditions.
Know lot layout and direct customers to plant locations and facilities
Use two-way radio to communicate with team members.
Identify unusual plant issues and share any concerns.
Move hoses, heavy carts, and large plant material.
Move and secure large trees and shrubs (tie up, tip up, reposition as needed).
Complete department daily task lists and communicate about progress.
Assist other departments upon request (cashier support, watering, deliveries).
Assist with loading customer vehicles. Ex: trees, bagged goods, sod.
Perennial Department Duties
Top duties are Customer Service and Plant Care & Maintenance, and Inventory & Merchandising
Work primarily outdoors in all weather conditions.

Yard / Maintenance Duties
Top responsibility is general maintenance of the garden center, office building and yard along with Customer Service
Use two-way radio to communicate with team members.
Work primarily outdoors in all weather conditions.
Operate skid steer (Bobcat) for loading bulk material and unloading racks & pallets
Operate small equipment such as mower & blower
Load customer vehicles with other purchases. Ex: trees, bagged goods, sod
Assist Department Managers with special projects. Ex: moving benches, pottery, plants
Key Skills & Attributes for all positions
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Interest in plants, nature, or retail.
Basic math skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak seasonal hours.
Plant knowledge, basic understanding of plants & identification is desirable.
Retail experience
English proficiency required.
